UNIK Launches New Grass Paver Mould Series for Green Infrastructure Projects

UNIK has released a new series of grass paver moulds designed for one job: producing concrete grids that hold grass or gravel while supporting vehicle traffic. Think parking lots that don‘t become heat islands, fire lanes that stay green, or driveways that let rain soak through instead of running off into storm drains. The new series uses Cr12MoV alloy tool steel with carburizing heat treatment, achieving surface hardness of HRC59-62 while keeping the core tough at HRC35-40. That means the surface resists abrasive wear day after day, but the mould won‘t snap under vibration like a fully hardened piece of steel would. Key specs include ±0.3mm cavity tolerance, Ra 1.6 surface finish, and 3-5mm corner radii to prevent stress cracks. Expected lifespan is 80,000-100,000 cycles — roughly two years for a single-shift operation.

UNIK has already shipped prototypes to customers in Southeast Asia (residential parking areas), the Middle East (fire access lanes), and Africa (driveways and low-traffic roads). One customer in the Philippines told UNIK they had tried two other suppliers‘ grass paver moulds before. Both failed around 30,000 cycles. The UNIK test mould passed 85,000 cycles and was still running when they placed a larger order. The new moulds are compatible with HESS, MASA, ZENITH, BESSER, TIGER, Qunfeng, Hengxing, Quangong, and UNIK‘s own UNT series machines. For other machines, UNIK can build a custom mounting interface from an old mould, a drawing, or clear photos with measurements.

Standard sizes in the new series include 333×166×80mm, 240×210×80mm, 190×190×80mm, and 140×140×80mm. Custom sizes and cell patterns are available upon request. Each mould undergoes rigorous QA: raw material verification, in-process dimensional checks during CNC machining, hardness testing on surface and core, final measurement of all critical dimensions, and mounting interface verification against a standard test plate. Only moulds that pass every inspection are shipped.
